المستدرك على الصحيحين (al-Mustadrak)

The taḥqīq of Shaykh Maḥmūd Mīrah, which took him fifty years to complete, is nothing short of a masterpiece of dedication, perseverance, and meticulous scholarly effort.

This work may be viewed within the broader scholarly tradition of work on al-Ḥākim’s al-Mustadrak, beginning with Imām al-Dhahabī, followed by Ibn al-Mulaqqin and Ibn Ḥajar, and eventually culminating in the monumental contribution of Shaykh Maḥmūd Mīrah. The work is not merely an exceptional taḥqīq; its first volume contains a wealth of pertinent discussions concerning al-Ḥākim and his al-Mustadrak. It also presents a significant theory proposed by Shaykh ʿAwwāmah in an unpublished article, which is published here for the first time. In addition, the author includes his master’s thesis, which focuses specifically on al-Ḥākim himself.

The muḥaqqiq also arrives at the conclusion that only 54 of the more than 8,000 aḥādīth contained in the work can be classified as mawḍūʿ. This provides an important perspective on the nature of the Mustadrak and its relationship to the extensive scholarly discussions surrounding it.

This edition is undoubtedly a significant contribution to the field of hadith, and particularly to the study and understanding of al-Ḥakim’s al-Mustadrak.
