ماهية علوم الحديث (Mahiyyat 'Ulum al-Hadith)

Shaykh Hamza al-Bakri has authored a number of works in the field of hadith, the most notable among them being taaddud al-hadithah. In this work, he engages deeply with the very definition of ulum al-hadith, exploring which texts most faithfully capture its essence and scope. Furthermore, Shaykh Hamza addresses the longstanding discussion regarding the place of the qawaid of ulum al-hadith: are they to function as usul in the formal sense, or do they serve a distinct methodological role as employed by the muhaddithun?
